In our Portfolios in class we had all of our storyboards, and other plans that we had made before the start of filming, they have been uploaded to Connors blog.

Editing
Today we went out to record more footage that we needed to add to the end of our film. We have finished recording all of the raw footage and we are now onto editing our film on the Macs. Our next step is to finish editing and add sound effects and music into the film.

The film sequence we are trying to create
is a horror film with aspects of mystery. It is set in a school at night around
5pm –Winter. We chose this to create a specific atmosphere and add to the
mystery of the story regarding the school, which is supposedly haunted.
The story of the film is that during the
opening a mysterious shadowy figure is seen by the caretaker of the school who
is cleaning up after all the students and teachers have gone home. He goes to
investigate where the figure had gone to as he suspected it to be a student or
teacher at first and then he notices it to be a supernatural being that the
rumors said haunted to school, the being then kills him.

We learned how to edit sequences of film
using IMovie on the Mac’s. We used our footage from last week along with some
new footage. We imported the clips from the camcorder into IMovie where we used
the editing tools to create a short film. We also recorded our sequence again
making sure we got it right and did the shots correctly. During this sequence I
played one of the main characters in the story and I was also responsible for
suggesting ideas and putting them forward to the group.

Today I learnt how to turn on and set up a
camera, insert tapes into the camera, set the camera on a tripod and adjust it
so it is right for turning.
We recorded a sequence
using various skills acquired from previous lessons. Such as Match on Match
action, the 180 degree rule, and shot, reverse shot. We showed these techniques
for filming in our sequence.
We planned a storyboard prior to this to
show are intentions when filming and showed the 3 rules mentioned before
clearly.
We are going to continue to practice
editing on the Mac’s and put the shoe sequence together to create segments for
our coursework.
